The Holding Was On Hold
I’ll be glad to get back to it
I went a month without holding my sign. School bus strikers were picketing the Department of Education building on Chambers Street. I didn’t want to add to the visual noise. That’s right where I usually stand.
I don’t know how long I would have stayed away. Luckily things got settled. I’ve missed being there on a bunch of levels. I’ve missed the routine. I’ve missed seeing familiar faces. Mostly, of course, I’ve missed standing there with a message I believe in. After holding the sign there for 18 months, I believe in it more strongly than ever.
