THE MIDDLE AGE BLACK WOMAN with a well-worn face was coming toward the sign this morning. I looked at her face and wondered if the sign would matter to her. She didn’t look my way until she was shoulder to shoulder with me and hardly moving her mouth she said, Bless Ya.
