The city’s quiet. Relatively quiet anyway. People are away. I took an easy walk downtown
over the weekend to an always-impressive bookstore, McNally Jackson, on Prince Street. I
seldom head down there. I went to get a paperback book of stories by Thomas
McGuane. I’ve already got three books going. But I felt a need to read stories
set in the west, mostly Montana, where McGuane moved to decades ago. My
youngest daughter lives in Wyoming. Another daughter from here with her twin
kids is visiting her. Three nieces and kids are gathering there too. The
McGuane stories would connect me.
